Trisha Yearwood Talks One Year of Friends In Low Places Bar & Honky-Tonk
Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood's Lower Broadway music mecca in Nashville, Friends In Low Places Bar & Honky-Tonk, wrapped up its month-long celebration of its first anniversary last week.
The couple and the staff at the four-floor, 54,715-square-foot entertainment complex made the month extra special. Friends In Low Places Bar & Honky-Tonk partied for St. Patrick's Day, hosted fan competitions for the SEC men's basketball tournament, and every day boasts 50+ screens (that's 1,400 sqft) for the best game-day views, six bars, entire coolers of beer, and special game day menus from Trisha. But last week, Garth and Trisha surprised everyone when they made an unannounced surprise visit to FILP to bartend on a Thursday afternoon!
Fittingly, Garth led a "Friends in Low Places" sing-along from behind the bar.
In the spirit of celebrating FILP's first anniversary, Garth, Trisha, and the Fab Four reflected on what they've learned in the last 12 months and looked toward the future. Today is Trisha's turn.
What is your favorite memory?
Trisha: Watching the NPD open the station next door with their families made us all cry!
What did you learn in the first year?
Trisha: I learned that if you take care of your staff and your patrons, they take care of you. We all just want to be treated with kindness and respect, have a good meal with friends, and listen to good music. It's pretty simple. Simple works.
What has been your biggest surprise?
Trisha: I've been most surprised by the constant happiness among staff and servers. It's a hard job, especially in the first year when you're learning your way and figuring out what works and what doesn't. I've just seen so much joy in the building, and it's been wonderful.
What do you want to add?
Trisha: I'd like to add more food items, especially seasonally and for holidays, and I'd like to add a really good signature coffee to the menu. Coffee is my favorite food!
What do people like the most?
Trisha: I think FRIENDS has created a place where people feel happy, safe, and at ease. You just feel good when you walk in the door and are treated with kindness (and good food and music!) I think people feel so comfortable at FRIENDS, that's why they come back.
