GARTH BROOKS CELEBRATES THE RELEASE OF “DOUBLE LIVE” ON VINYL WITH WALMART LIVE SPECIAL
According to Garth Brooks, there’s a reason his landmark album Double Live is the best-selling live album and the biggest selling certified country album in history.
And it’s not him.
“The music is timeless because the people make it that way,” he said during his Walmart Live special celebrating the release of Double Live on vinyl. “And the country music audience is the biggest and most loyal.”
From the control room in Allentown Studios Nashville where he recorded all his studio albums, Garth delivered acoustic performances of his most-loved songs and looked back at highlights from his Double Live network television special from almost 30 years ago, including clips that showed him flying across Texas Stadium and crowd surfing at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland.
While answering viewers’ questions, Garth talked about songs like “That Summer” and “Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)” that take on new life when thousands of people sing along—and others like “Friends in Low Places” and “The Thunder Rolls” with third verses that are only performed live.
The vinyl edition of Double Live is available for a limited time at the fan appreciation price of $14.97. The Double Live package contains two vinyl albums with 25 live tracks recorded during Garth’s blockbuster world tour from 1996-1998. Walmart will also offer a double Double Live package with two vinyl albums and two CDs priced at $19.97. Pre-order here.
With multiple, collectible covers and color vinyl in some editions, Double Live on vinyl is a music collector’s dream. Garth showed the Walmart-exclusive edition with gorgeous live shots on the front and back covers and the inside double-spread to prove that the double album package “makes the moment as big as the moment really was.”
Released in November 1998, Double Live made history by selling over a million copies in its first week. Double Live debuted at the top of the Billboard Top 200 and Country Albums charts, and it stayed at the top of the Billboard Top 200 chart for 5 weeks. Currently certified by the RIAA at 25 million, Double Live contains Garth’s best-loved hits recorded in moments of unbridled excitement during his concerts and captures the powerful, emotional connection between Garth and his friends in ALL places!
