“GOOD RIDE COWBOY” - GARTH’S TRIBUTE TO CHRIS LEDOUX AND A METAPHOR FOR LIFE IN “THE ANTHOLOGY, PART IV: GOING HOME”

“Good Ride Cowboy,” Garth’s tribute to Chris LeDoux, is one of over 60 songs included in The Anthology, Part IV: Going Home, which also contains the story behind the song and a photo of the group that sang on it with Garth.

Garth explains how “Good ride cowboy,” words of affirmation in the rodeo world where LeDoux was a world champion bronc rider before launching his music career, became a metaphor for his own life and the man he wanted to become.

“’Going Home’ is about feeling like you’re on the journey that you want to be on,” Garth says.  “What’s that journey? You just want to be a better man, and when you talk about the best men out there, you gotta talk about Chris LeDoux.”

LeDoux’s passing in 2005 came while Garth was working on The Lost Sessions, and Garth wanted to pay tribute to his hero and friend.  The Anthology, Part IV details how “Good Ride Cowboy” took shape—from the title, offered by Garth’s manager, Bob Doyle; to multiple writing sessions where lines from LeDoux’s songs flew back and forth; and finally, the recording session where a choir of background singers chimed in on the chorus.

With over 200 pages and nearly 200 photos, Garth’s Anthology, Part IV: Going Home, including the music he created during the timeframe it reflects – is available now.
