Garth Brooks Pays a Summer Olympics Visit to NBC’s Host, Maria Taylor in Paris!
If you’re like Garth Brooks (and Trisha Yearwood), you’ve spent the last two weeks soaking in as many Olympic moments as possible. And if you’re like Garth, you’re probably still reliving some of them in your head. So, before the Closing Ceremonies unfold, why not take a look back with him – and a trip back to his brief “visit to Paris” with Maria Taylor, NBC’s host for late-night coverage and the voice of Tailgate Radio on Garth’s SEVENS Radio Network!
Garth joined Maria a few days ago to share his enjoyment of everything that’s been unfolding in France. “How they’re reflecting their country to the rest of the world is beautiful,” he said of the Opening Ceremonies and other pageantry that’s followed. “The level of excellence – that bar was set pretty high,” he told Maria.
While he’s enjoyed a variety of sports and events, Garth has found a lot of inspiration beyond the competition. He cites the stories of athletes from all around the world – “You realize that every country has that sweetheart you just pull for when it’s their turn.” And there’s a vocal performance he can’t get over, too – that of four women from Ukraine as their national anthem played at their gold medal ceremony and they sang in a display of pride. “Celine Dion was mighty, but my favorite vocal performance of The Olympics so far has been the Ukraine Women's Fencing Team.”
