GARTH BROOKS OFFERS LIMITED-EDITION “TOUR ‘90” RETRO T-SHIRT BEGINNING JULY 1
The next vintage t-shirt Garth Brooks will release from the vault is his very first tour shirt. It features the graphics from the Garth Brooks album cover and says simply, “Garth Brooks, Tour ’90.” To celebrate Independence Day, the white tee will be available with either red or blue lettering. A limited number of the retro shirts will be available exclusively at Friends in Low Places Bar & Honky-Tonk in Nashville, beginning July 1.
Garth’s first tour was a learning experience, where he opened for and watched how headliners like Kenny Rogers, Reba, and The Judds connected with a crowd and how they treated people.
“Here’s the beautiful thing . . .” Garth says in The Anthology, Part III: LIVE. “Class is always in session. And if you’re out there fronting for other acts, well, that’s the university.”
On tour in 1990, Garth also developed his own reputation as a consummate entertainer, performing at fairs, festivals, and clubs and riding the success of early hits like “Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old),” “If Tomorrow Never Comes,” “Not Counting You," and “The Dance.”
“It didn’t matter whether the production was a little shaky or not; it could be on the back of trucks,” he recalls. “It didn’t matter because at some point we’re going to end up in the crowd anyway. We’re going to be standing on speakers, even if they’re about to fall off a flatbed truck. And I wouldn’t trade those times for anything!”
Garth will unveil a “new” retro shirt on the first Monday of each month until the end of the year. They are available exclusively at the merch store at Friends in Low Places Bar & Honky-Tonk at 411 Broadway, limit two shirts per customer, while supplies last. The first vintage tee, released March 7 to celebrate the grand opening of FILP, dated back to 1991 and Ropin’ the Wind.
