Garth Brooks' Neon Neighborhood Lights Up Time Traveler, Nashville: Listen Now

When Garth Brooks coined the phrase "Neon Neighborhood," he wrote more than a song—he added a colorful new nickname to country fan's vocabulary to describe Nashville's famed Lower Broadway.

"We wanted to take Lower Broadway, and whether you're on Broadway or one street over or whatever, if you're a bar down there, you're part of the Neon Neighborhood," Garth said. "How do we take that Neon Neighborhood and make it work for Nashville?"

"Neon Neighborhood" is from Garth's 10-song collection "Time Traveler," which he released this week on Amazon Music. The album was initially included in Garth's seven-disc boxed set "The Limited Series," which he put out last year and sold exclusively at Bass Pro Shops. ("Neon Neighborhood" is also the theme for Garth's "Friends In Low Places" Build Show on Prime Video.)

In addition to "Neon Neighborhood," "Time Traveler" includes Garth's Ronnie Dunn duet "Rodeo Man," his reimagined version of David Allan Coe's "The Ride," his Kelly Clarkson collaboration "The Ship and the Bottle," the timeless "Me Without You" and more.

"Neon Neighborhood" is near and dear to Garth's heart because he is central to the famous strip. He opened his Friends In Low Places Bar & Honky-Tonk at 411 Broadway in Nashville in March. The heavily populated entertainment district is frequented by bachelorette parties, tourists, young adults, and others eager to make nightlife memories.

Garth described the area as "like a shopping mall that's just all bars."

"You get to walk across the hallway to that one, that one, that one, and try 'em out," he said. "It's fun. I love the whole Neon Neighborhood. I love our neighbors. I love that the police have a presence down there. It really, really feels like a sweeter place for me because of a collective name like Neon Neighborhood."

Garth even included a chorus of Lower Broadway voices on "Neon Neighborhood." Layla from Layla's Honky Tonk is there, as are the folks that run Friend In Low Places. Garth wrote the song with Tony Arata, Kent Blazy, Bryan Kennedy, and Matt Rossi.

"It was really fun," Garth said. "It was a good mix, and I thought it turned out amazingly well."
