Garth Brooks: My Opinion Doesn't Have to Be Yours

For Garth Brooks, every decision he makes when planning a tour is another opportunity to connect with the people who made his career possible.

As Brooks prepares to launch his Blame It All On My Roots Tour on Aug. 21, he's taking fans inside those decisions in a seven-part series that explains not only what he does, but why he does it.

But first, he wants to make one thing clear.

"My opinion doesn't have to be yours," Brooks says. "Every artist has his, her, or their own way of doing things, and one way isn't better than another. This is simply the way we choose to do it.”

For Brooks, the tour itself is an extension of the conversation between the singer and fan.

"Touring is the most personal part of the relationship between the artist and the listener," he says. "This is the part where you get to look each other in the eye and say, 'Thank you.' The artist gets to thank the fans for allowing them to make music, and the fans thank the artist for the music that's become part of their lives.”

Brooks has been building that relationship with fans for decades. And when it comes to welcoming new listeners, he starts laying the foundation on day one of planning each new tour.

"Every move you make on tour — from picking the cities and the venues to ticket pricing and the level of production — it's all communication between the artist and the believer," Brooks says. "And it's my opinion that communication begins long before the artist takes the stage.”

With that in mind, Brooks is inviting fans inside his decision-making process.

Through this series, he'll explain the thinking behind everything from ticket pricing and the secondary market to setlists, live recordings, and making every show unique — not because he believes it's the only way, but because he believes it's the best way to serve the people who made his music career possible.

Tickets for the first two shows on Brooks’ Blame It All On My Roots Tour — Aug. 21-22 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis — go on sale at 10 am ET Friday, July 17, at www.ticketmaster.com/garthbrooks or through the Ticketmaster App.
