Garth Brooks Joins Luke Combs to Close Stagecoach, Captivates FRIENDLY Crowd
Garth Brooks surprised 85,000 country music fans in Indio, California, Sunday night when he nonchalantly strolled on stage during Luke Combs' closing set at Stagecoach.
Combs had hinted he might have an artist pop out to help him close the show, but fans were nearly dumbstruck when Garth jumped in and took over Combs' cover of "Friends in Low Places.”
"This was a classic case of old school meets new school,” Garth shared. “When I got there, it hit me that Luke and his band may not use wedges...they may all use 'in ears' to hear themselves. I only use wedges. So I had to get out on the fringe of the stage so I could hear the mains!,” he added, laughing.
"Thank God is was FRIENDS...the crowd sang it for me.”
Combs and Garth turned much of the song over to the audience, who excitedly screamed every word.
Combs ended the night, yelling: "It's Garth freaking Brooks, everybody!”
Garth declared Combs a "future Hall of Famer.”
His surprise appearance at Stagecoach marked the first time Garth had returned to the California country music festival since he and his wife, Trisha Yearwood, headlined the event in 2018.
Of course, for fans who were paying attention to Garth's socials, it wasn't a total surprise. He posted a video in his stories of himself climbing on a plane. The caption read: "Stagecoach Never Broke My Heart.”
And while Stagecoach brought all the joy Garth knew it would — it was one of Luke’s guests that made Garth’s night the most special.
"My highlight of the night was meeting Luke's mom,” Garth said. “She is a doll!! I LOVE her!"
