Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood Induct Lainey Wilson Into The Grand Ole Opry
Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood officially inducted Lainey Wilson into the Grand Ole Opry Friday night – an experience the 33-year-old Louisiana native called "the biggest night of my life."
Wilson took the stage several times throughout the Opry's Friday night broadcast before Garth and Trisha welcomed her into the Grand Ole Opry's esteemed family.
"We are honored to be here tonight, and I just want to say I'm a little bit biased, but there can never be too many women at the Grand Ole Opry," Trisha said. "When I think about the future of country music, I know with you in it that we're going to be okay."
"It's just really rare you find somebody at your age that already gets it," Garth said. "So I'm going to tell you, if it's up to you, which I think it will be, your career's going to be as long as you want."
Then Trisha suggested Wilson move into the circle.
“On behalf of all the members of the Grand Ole Opry past and present, we welcome you as the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry," she said.
Wilson, emotional from living a night of her childhood dreams coming true, took a turn at the microphone.
"Thank you for showing up tonight," she told the audience. "We've had a crazy couple of years, and all the awards and everything. But this right here is the highest honor for me. It feels like that stamp of approval from everybody that stood right here. It just lights another fire under my butt."
