GARTH BROOKS AND TRISHA YEARWOOD HOST CARTER WORK PROJECT FOR HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
Shortly after stepping off the stage in Las Vegas, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood traded guitars and microphones for hammers and tool belts as hosts of the 2024 Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project with Habitat for Humanity in St. Paul, Minnesota. This year marked the Project’s 40th anniversary, celebrating the legacy of former President Jimmy Carter and First Lady Rosalynn Carter as champions of affordable housing through their hands-on leadership with Habitat for Humanity.
The Carter Work Project, hosted by Garth and Trisha, brought together volunteers, future homeowners, and supporters to build 30 new homes in a neighborhood called The Heights in St. Paul. The neighborhood is a model for sustainable, resilient, affordable housing, with homes that feature solar panels or shingles, air source heat pumps, water conservation measures, and more.
"It's always and joy and an honor to spend the week in the middle of people loving people," Brooks said. "And to make it extra special, we celebrated President Carter's 100th birthday on Wednesday!"
Garth and Trisha have volunteered with Habitat for Humanity for more than a decade, first joining a build in New Orleans for the 1000th and 1001st post-Hurricane Katrina homes on the Gulf Coast. In 2016 they were honored to be named Habitat Humanitarians, volunteers who also work as advocates to raise awareness of the need for decent, affordable shelter in the U.S. and around the world. Other Habitat Humanitarians are former President Jimmy Carter and First Lady Rosalynn Carter, and real estate/construction experts and TV personalities Drew and Jonathan Scott. Garth and Trisha also hosted the 2023 Carter Work Project in Charlotte, NC.
Garth and Trisha returned to Vegas on Thursday (October 10) for the Garth Brooks Plus ONE residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
