Garth and Trisha's Friends In Low Places Bar & Honky-Tonk Serves A Slice Of The Couple's History With G&T's Wedding Cake

Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood will celebrate 20 years of marriage in December. And just like their love for each other, their wedding cake recipe is as meaningful as when they said "I do."

Garth and Trisha were married at their home near Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Dec. 10, 2015. While only a small group of family and friends were at the wedding, now everyone who visits the couple's Friends In Low Places Bar & Honky-Tonk on Nashville's Lower Broadway can celebrate with them.

Their wedding cake – crafted from Trisha's beloved mother's recipe – is on the menu.

"This was my mom's recipe," Trisha said on Good Morning America. Her mother, Gwen, made wedding cakes before she passed away in 2011. "It's a sour cream pound cake with just a decorative frosting, and it's a piece of history for us. It brings my mom back into the kitchen, too."

While Trisha always wanted her mom to bake the cake, Garth recalled on their Prime Video docuseries "Friends in Low Places" that his mother-in-law didn't want to.

"What I loved was that your mom knew what she was gonna do, and she knew exactly what she wasn't going to do, and she was not going to bake this cake," Garth said.

After Trisha reassured her that it was just a private ceremony in their home and her mom could just do something small, she agreed.

But what she cooked up wasn't so small after all. Gwen made a five-tier wedding cake with a bottom layer so large it wouldn't fit in the couple's oven. They had to drive to a friend's house who had a larger oven - with the batter already in the cake pan - to make sure their cake was cooked.

Trisha said the cake "came out perfectly."

Fans can now try it for themselves. Friends In Low Places Bar & Honky-Tonk is open now with "G&T's Wedding Cake" on the menu.

Just like the couple, Gwen's sour cream pound cake recipe stood the test of time.
