In Pieces is the studio album that sounds closest to Garth’s high-energy road show with full-tilt boogie hits like "Ain’t Goin’ Down (‘Til The Sun Comes Up)," "American Honky Tonk Bar Association" and "Callin’ Baton Rouge." Although "The Red Strokes" was never released as a single in the United States, the album cut climbed to the Top-40 on the country charts. Writing of Garth’s impact on country music, Rolling Stone called his tour a "raucous rock-out."
In Pieces was the third album in music history to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 and Country Albums charts. 1993 saw Garth fronting the biggest and fastest selling concert tour ever fronted by a country act in the U.S. The debut single, "Ain't Going Down ('Til The Sun Comes Up)" (written by Garth Brooks, Kim Williams and Kent Blazy), made Radio & Records history by entering the country singles charts at #25, with 222 stations adding the song out-of-the-box.
In Pieces is RIAA certified for sales in excess of 8 million units.
